20th Annual Conference Webcast (CE Credit: 25
hrs)
The
Academy for Guided Imagery in co-operation with 19 other
co-sponsoring organizations present “IMAGERY,
SUGGESTION, AND MIND/BODY MEDICINE: 2008.”
This historic
conference will be held as an online webcast that will
first reach an international audience on May 15-18, 2008.
Participants will not have to travel, pay for hotel or
transportation expenses, or take extended time away from
work, study or home activities. Even better, any missed
presentations will be available online anytime until July
19, 2008.
Imagery and suggestion are
critically important unconscious elements in most health
care communications, for they can significantly affect the
outcome of many medical interventions and therapies. During
this groundbreaking webcast, the originators and long-time
developers, researchers, teachers, and practitioners of
ancient and modern imagery-related techniques will share
their unique and extensive expertise, wisdom, and
experience through formal presentations and interactive
interviews.
This distinguished faculty
includes 25 of the leading international researchers,
clinicians, and authorities in this field. These experts
will share their most recent theories, thoughts, research,
techniques, strategies, and clinical findings concerning
imagery, visualization, suggestion, mind/body medicine, and
related topics.
Presenters include Jeanne Achterberg, PhD; Daniel J. Benor,
MD, ABHM; David E. Bresler, PhD, LAc; Effie Poy Yew Chow,
PhD, RN, LAc; James S. Gordon, MD; Stanley Krippner, PhD;

Ornish, MD; Kenneth R. Pelletier, PhD, MD(hc); Martin
Rossman, MD; Francine Shapiro, PhD; C. Norman Shealy, MD;
David S. Sobel, MD, MPH. and (hopefully) Andrew Weil, among
others.
Guest
faculty include best-selling crime novelist James Ellroy,
on envisioning addiction and sobriety; legendary Hollywood
film producer Peter Guber, on the power of MAGIC; and
preeminent security expert and best-selling author Gavin de
Becker, on “The Gift of Fear.”
Co-sponsoring organizations
include the American Holistic Medical Association, American
Health Association, Association for Humanistic Psychology,
Center for Mind-Body Medicine, Institute of Noetic
Sciences, ISSSEEM, Pacific Graduate School of Psychology;
and the California School of Professional
Psychology/Alliant International University, among others,
and CE credits are offered for most health care
professions.
Anyone with internet access
(dial-up to DSL to T1) on any platform (PC, Mac) can
attend, earn CE credits, and register at the lowest
conference fees in years. This will allow participation by
many providers, students and academics who are interested
in this work but could not travel, take time from their
practices, study or teaching, or afford to attend
conferences in the past.
If
you register before
4/14/08,
you can save $110

hrs)
Pre-Requisite: FIGI, Adv/1A, and Adv/1B.
Academy Preceptorships have
been called “The Heart of the Certification Training
Program,” for over the course of four days, you work
closely with small groups of Certification candidates under
the skilled tutelage of Academy faculty members.
At Preceptorships, you will have the opportunity to see
unique and individual guiding approaches, share personal
experiences using Interactive Guided Imagerysm, and gain a
working understanding of the techniques and principles
taught in our Advanced Workshops.
Each morning, the Preceptorship begins with an in-depth
discussion and demonstration of a core Interactive Guided
Imagerysm technique, followed by smaller group sessions,
each led by an experienced Academy faculty member. In these
smaller groups, you will have the opportunity to develop
your skills as an Imagery Guide. You will also benefit from
experiencing the unique perspectives of the client and the
observer, and the feedback from debriefing each imagery
experience.
This four day hands-on workshop focuses on mastering four
critical IGIsm techniques: Getting To Know An Image;
Meeting The Inner Advisor; Evocative Imagery; and
Grounding: Moving From Insight To Action. Upon satisfactory
completion, you are Level I Certified, which makes you
eligible to be included in AGI’s Online Referral Directory
of Imagery Practitioners.
This preceptorship will be held at the Best Western Gateway
Hotel in Santa Monica, CA (see www.GatewayHotel.com). Call
310-829-9100 for reservations at special AGI rates.
